Sometimes it just isn’t meant to be. Having qualified third for the Spa-Francorchamps round of the Michelin Le Mans Cup, hopes were high at Bullitt Racing as the Aston Martin Racing partner team chased its championship aspirations ahead of the Portimao season finale next month.
In cold blustery conditions, Stephen set off for the grid for Saturday’s (24 September 2022) race but as the rain started to fall, track conditions quickly deteriorated, and this led to the accident that sidelined the #99 Aston Martin Vantage from the race start.
“It’s frustrating to lose the championship this way,” declared Team Manager Steffan Pattrick. “These things happen, but we all will learn from this. It’s a shame as Stephen and teammate Valentin were looking good for the race, but on this occasion, they sadly didn’t get a chance to shine.
“We now prepare for Portimao, where we will do our very best to end – what has been a very successful season – on a high note,” he concluded.
